  • Sexually Transmitted Infections (aka STIs) are infections you can get by having sex (oral, vaginal, anal, etc.) with another person.

    Lots of people get STIs at some point, and there's no shame in having one.

  • HOW YOU GET IT: Having sex (oral, vaginal, anal, etc.) or sharing needles with someone who has HIV. HIV is NOT spread by kissing, hugging, or toilet seats.

    POSSIBLE SYMPTOMS: Some people experience flu-like symptoms soon after getting HIV, but getting tested is the only way to know for sure if you have HIV.

  • HOW YOU GET IT: Having sex (oral, vaginal, anal, etc.) with someone who has syphilis and/or having contact with one of their infected sores.

    POSSIBLE SYMPTOMS: Some people get small sores on or near their genitals, butt, or mouth. Later, some people get rashes on their hands, feet, or other parts of the body.

  • HOW YOU GET IT: Having sex (oral, vaginal, anal, etc.) with someone who has gonorrhea.

    POSSIBLE SYMPTOMS: People often have no symptoms, but when they do, they can have itching/burning while peeing, unusual discharge from genitals, sore throat, itchy/sore butt, vaginal/anal bleeding, etc.

  • HOW YOU GET IT: Having sex (oral, vaginal, anal, etc.) with someone who has chlamydia.

    POSSIBLE SYMPTOMS: Most people have no symptoms, but when they do, they can have itching/burning while peeing, unusual discharge from genitals, itchy/sore butt, anal bleeding, testicular swelling, etc.
